24th April – 4th May 2027. FULLY BOOKED.

Please note that this workshop is booked direct with Atlantis Dive Resort, Philippines. Please contact reservations.tl@atlantishotel.com for waitlist spots.

The Philippines sits in the heart of the Coral Triangle, home to the world’s most biodiverse tropical marine life and is arguably the world’s epicentre for underwater photography. We hope that you will join this unique collaborative workshop with Alex Mustard and Marty Snyderman for this very special Macro Masterclass, at the fantastic Atlantis Dive Resort in Dumaguete. Prices from $4552 USD, 10 days, 5 scheduled dives each day included.

“I am very excited to be returning to Atlantis for this workshop.” says Alex. “The muck and patch reef diving around Dauin and Dumaguete has always proved amongst my most productive spots anywhere in the world. These dives have yielded many of my well-known shots, including a WPY Category winner, and all taken while enjoying staying at the welcoming and elegant Atlantis Dumaguete Resort. This destination has always been very popular on my previous workshops because of the resort’s excellent food, relaxed vacation vibe, beachfront location and for being very close to the best dive sites. This last point allows Atlantis to run 4 day dives and a night dive each day, which combined with the area being so critter rich makes every day there mega-productive for photography.”

“The location is one of the great macro meccas,” Alex continues. “It is definitely packed with critters, but in my experience has a few less rarities than other places, but very much makes up for that with abundance of all the prime subjects. Dumaguete is particularly amazing in the spring, when it is celebrated for frogfish, nudibranchs and cephalopods. I have done many dives here with more that 10 frogfish on the dive (my record is 14, although a friend claims he counted 40 on one amazing dive). Most of the dive sites are in locally enforced no-take reserves and are filled with normal reef life too. It is my favourite spot anywhere to photograph clownfish, and it is possible to see 7 different species on a single dive here. Oh, and it is renowned for large photogenic nudibranch, seahorses, skeleton shrimps and more.”

“I am also really delighted that Marty Snyderman invited me to run this event with him,” says Alex. “I’ve been reading Marty’s articles, books and wowing at his photos for pretty much my entire life and I am very excited by what he’ll bring to this workshop group. Marty is a longstanding Photography Ambassador for Atlantis Resorts and Liveaboards, which means he has the insight to ensure we’re always heading out to most photographic dive sites and I know that the whole Atlantis team is excited to be hosting us and are committed to making this a truly special workshop.”

“I am thrilled to be at Alex’s side for this workshop,” adds Marty. “One of the benefits of my work with Atlantis Dive Resorts and Liveaboards is being able to share our marine life and the nuances of the behaviors we have an opportunity to see and document with divers from all over the world. No doubt about it, being in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the photographic opportunities are endless. Our camera facilities make dealing with camera systems safe and easy. Our dive guides understand the concerns and desires of underwater shooters, and they are eager to show you the best diving they can. I could go on and on about Atlantis, but what I really want to say is I very much look forward to meeting and diving with those of you who are able to join us. We are going to enjoy some fantastic diving!”

The workshop includes 10 nights in a deluxe room at Atlantis (and single room supplement is very reasonably priced), on full board (including all meals: a chef-prepared breakfast and three course lunch and dinner), with all diving and Nitrox pre-paid. Everyone also has a one day trip to Apo Island (wide angle) a beacon in the Philippines marine conservation story. The group size is 21 plus Alex & Marty, dives will be 4 photographers with a guide and we will be split across multiple boats.
