SUMMARY:Fiji Jaw-Dropping Reefs Workshop
DESCRIPTION:May-June 2026. This trip is organised by Scuba Travel. Please contact Caroline@scubatravel.com to get on the reserve list. FULLY BOOKED \nI am very excited to be launching a new workshop in Fiji\,” says Alex\, “a destination widely hailed as the soft coral capital of the world! This is a wide angle focused workshop\, a chance to fill your portfolio with those perfect coral reef images. As a measure of how photogenic Fijian reefs – my last trip to Fiji was in 2015\, yet the photos are still in demand – for example the main logo image for the BBC’s forthcoming Blue Planet 3 series is one of mine from that trip.” \nFor photographers Fiji is all about fabulous wide angle location\, with healthy and vibrant corals and fish filled reefs. There are plentiful schools\, and lots of big creatures\, like sharks\, turtles and mantas. The workshop is based on the famous liveaboard Nai’a\, which has been diving these waters for decades\, and we are running at a reduced capacity. For much of that time there have been no other liveaboards\, meaning pristine reefs and access to the best spots whenever you want! Nai’a offer an intensive schedule focused on day diving\, with 4 day dives each day and night dives offered on 4 of the 10 nights. Part of the reason Fijian reefs are so rich is that these waters are fed by currents\, and being the only boat about means we adjust the dive schedule to ensure we are hitting the best spots at the best times. The Fijian crew are hugely experienced and incredibly welcoming. \n \nAlex says “we’ve timed this trip to start on neap (weak) tides and build up to the full moon\, so that everyone has time to get fully in the groove before the currents are strongest. Most sites in Fiji offer ample protection from the current\, but typically the best photography opportunities come from getting into the flow\, rather than avoiding it! If you are averse to any type of current this trip is probably not for you\, but those who have travelled regularly with me\, you will not meet anything you haven’t experienced before.” \nThe photography will be focused around the large\, deep water channel between the two biggest islands of the Fiji archipelago. Here clear open Pacific Ocean water is funnelled around small islands\, reefs and bommies\, leading to an explosion of life. These reefs are famed worldwide for their beauty. “They are not as biodiverse as in Indonesia\,” says Alex\, “but rather like the Red Sea\, this simpler palette makes them more photogenic to my eye. And the currents feed a spectacular density of soft corals\, great sea fans\, thick clouds of plankton feeding anthias\, damselfish and fusiliers\, and all this attracts the big boys: schools of jacks and barracudas\, mantas and sharks.” \n \nThe workshop is unsurprisingly themed on wide angle photography\, with much of the trip divided into assignment days that have proved so popular on recent workshops. This trip is intended for those who have already done workshops with Alex or are already proficient wide angle shooters\, although the teaching will of course include talks reminding everyone of the best practice for shooting stunning wide angle underwater. Alex also will run daily image review sessions through the workshop. \nPRE TRIP \nFiji is a long way from the UK\, where Alex is based\, so he will be running a short pre-liveaboard few days at Voli Voli resort\, in the north east of the largest island of Viti Levu. Voli Voli is a few hours drive from Nadi (pronounced Nandy) International Airport\, and reasonably close to where we will join Nai’a.  Places will be offered to those booked on the main workshop (in the next few months). \n \nVITALS \nDates: Nai’a liveaboard dates 23rd May – 2nd June 2026. Extension will be before these dates. \nPrice: from £6495 GBP. \nNai’a offers a variety of cabin types. Mainly Bunks or Twins (£7195)\, also Double beds for couples\, and Single Occupancy is possible (by taking an extra workshop place on this trip). If you have one\, please indicate to Caroline\, your first preference for bed type in your email. \n\nBOOKINGS \nFor further information and for reservations please contact Scuba Travel. Email is the best way to start booking this trip. Contact Caroline@scubatravel.com. \n\n\nThe deposit is 30% of your booking. An interim payment of 30% is due 9 month before the trip. The final balance is due 100 days before the charter.

SUMMARY:Summer Red Sea Workshop\, 2026 Week 1
DESCRIPTION:22nd-29th June 2026 – Workshop Week 1. FULLY BOOKED. \nThis is the first of two back to back workshops\, with the same planned itinerary and teaching. \nContact Caroline@scubatravel.com for more info and waiting list notifications. \n \nFor more that 20 years Alex’s classic summer Red Sea Workshop\, organised by Scuba Travel\, has a must-do status in the underwater photography community. It is a week of intensive underwater photography in the Red Sea taking in vibrant Red Sea reefs\, world class ship wrecks and importantly\, also timed to catch gatherings of great schools of fish in the Ras Mohammed National Park\, all with expert insight\, knowledge and tutorage from Alex. \n \n“I have taught 35 Red Sea workshop weeks and I keep going back because the diving is so productive for images and the varied subject matter is ideal for teaching many of the different nuances required to excel in wide angle photography\,” says Alex. “I hope you will join me in 2026. This is workshop that gets you lots of time in the best spots at the best times and with the underwater freedom needed to create stunning images. Many Red Sea liveaboard trips will give you around 15-20 dives\, we usually do between 23-26 – all in daylight – giving you so much more opportunity to create stunning shots.” \nAlex says “I run this trip because the diving is ideal for teaching underwater photography and because we just get so much quality photography packed into each day\, no other trip is as productive. It is really diverse too\, with the wide mix of subjects and the lessons that they teach us. And despite travel getting more expensive\, Egypt still offers very strong value for money. Lots of people choose this to be their first trip with me\, while many others return year after year because the trip produces so many different images.” \n \n  \nOur base will be the year-old boat Ghazala Adventure\, which is a standard-setting\, large\, luxurious liveaboard and truly an upgrade even from the impressive Ghazala Explorer that we’ve used in the Red Sea for the last few years. “I actually used both boats in 2025 and I have no doubt that Adventure is a step up in every area and simply makes this workshop even better\,” says Alex. “Yes\, this is the boat that we had a permission issue with in June 2025\, but that was a one-off and she’s now operating normally. The crew and guides will be familiar faces to many of you\, as Caroline and Reda from Scuba Travel hand pick the team for these workshops. Ghazala Adventure is steel-hulled and very stable compared with the typical wooden Red Sea boats\, Ocean Tribe take safety incredibly seriously both in terms of the vessels safety systems and the crew’s training. Ghazala Adventure is fast too\, meaning we arrive everywhere early and the boat has four compressors meaning tanks and filled and ready\, part of what allows us to squeeze in more dives than others and run open deck periods when we’re on site for the day. The boat also has a very spacious saloon area\, perfect for talks\, post processing and camera fettling – there is plenty of space throughout the boat (including the snug upstairs) for all the group and all our gear! But the standout feature for me is the crew\, who work so hard to make these workshops special.” This workshop is limited to 21 photographers\, although the boat can actually take 26 divers\, in 14 cabins. \n \nPlease note that there are two weeks available. The diving and teaching is intended to be the same each week\, although the weeks will always vary a little with conditions and how the dive sites are performing photographically. “We initially open these trips up for people to book just one week\, to give more people a chance to get places on this popular workshop\,” says Alex. “But if there are cancellations etc – then I am happy for people to ask to join the other week. The teaching content focuses on the subjects we are shooting (wreck externals\, wreck internals\, schooling fish\, reefs scenery\, split levels and fish photography and hopefully dolphins)\, although it always varies depending on the dives we do\, the interests of the group and the questions that are asked.” \n \n  \nVITALS \nDates: Workshop Week 1: 22nd-29th June 2026 \nThe price is from £2250 GBP\, which includes Easyjet flights from/to London\, Ghazala Adventure accommodation (based on shared cabin)\, full board (not alcohol)\, diving\, Nitrox\, workshop\, Marine Park Fees\, transfers in Hurghada (if you are on the included flights – note Easyjet have a generous baggage policy if you select the correct options). \nThe trip can also be booked without flights and airport transfers from £2000 GBP. \nIf arranging your own flights please book flights to Hurghada that synchronise with the main group (check with Caroline)\, the liveaboard will not depart late or return to port early to fit with any other flight times (embarkation is from 18:00\, although the group on the official flights will arrive around 21:00; we will be back in port for the final night\, with last dives around Sunday 2pm). Extras include: larger 15lt tanks\, visas\, alcohol\, hotel day room on final day. \nThese trips have traditionally included day room use on the final day\, but with many people making their own flight arrangements (and either not needing a room or needing a full night in the hotel) we now offer this as an option\, which can be booked as either a shared or a single room (approx £75-100 GBP). It is not an option to stay on the boat as she needs to be turned around for the next group. \nGhazala Adventure has standard lower deck cabins\, as well as options for upper deck twin cabins (£100 GBP extra pp)\, upper deck suites (double bed\, £150 GBP extra pp) and lower deck suite (double bed\, £150 GBP extra pp). Very limited single cabin occupancy is available (£1200 GBP extra) because we are running under capacity. All cabin options are on a first come\, first served basis\, when reserving your place on the workshop. Alex gets whatever cabin space remains! \n \nBOOKING \nFor further questions and for reservations please contact Scuba Travel. Email is the way to go. Contact Caroline@scubatravel.com. A non-refundable deposit of £700 GBP is required to secure your place. \nCaroline says “We strongly advise you take out trip insurance at the time of paying your deposit. This protects your investment against any unforeseen events that may prevent you from being able to travel (eg illness)\, as well as travel & dive insurance to cover you whilst you are away. I don’t recommend booking a holiday you think you might not go on! All payments are non refundable in the event of your cancellation.”

SUMMARY:Cayman Summer Workshop 2026
DESCRIPTION:1st-8th August 2026. Bookings for this workshop are direct with Ocean Frontiers\, please contact Carol: reservations@oceanfrontiers.com for bookings and any further information. \n“I am heading back to Cayman in August 2026 to run my popular controlling light workshop. The controlling light workshop is the best wide angle workshop I run. Through the week-long course we deconstruct the process of shooting wide angle photography\, allowing you to understand and optimise each element\, leaving you perfectly placed to shoot stunning wide angle pictures of any subject. Grand Cayman offers really diverse diving and we make use of this variety to focus on different skills and techniques. The benign diving conditions and excellent visibility\, combined with the quality operation run by Ocean Frontiers\, allows us to pack a huge amount into this workshop week\, sending you home packed with knowledge\, but also with a diverse mix of wide angle pictures of walls\, reefs\, caverns\, wrecks\, stingrays\, sharks\, turtles and hopefully lots of silversides – a speciality that can be served up by Cayman in the summer.” \nYou can read a detailed introduction to all of Alex’s Cayman Workshops here. \n \nOcean Frontiers is once again hosting Cayman Digital Madness\, at Compass Point Dive Resort\, their long-running underwater photography workshop with Alex Mustard. Be sure to book now to join a workshop jammed with specialized diving tailored for enthusiastic underwater photographers and a workshop under the expert guidance of Alex Mustard.“I am excited to launch my first summer Cayman workshop for 3 years\, which I hope brings us good encounters with summer silversides. Silverside blooms cannot be predicted or guaranteed\, but the timing of this trip is my best guess for catching them. The last big bloom at the East End was at Ironshore Gardens in summer 2024\, so fingers crossed. But with Ocean Frontiers’ fast boats we have the ability to catch the silversides wherever they show up on Cayman (or Little Cayman\, weather allowing for the crossing).” \n\n\nTHE WORKSHOP AND THE DIVING\n\nAlex says\, “this wide angle photography class is themed on Understanding and Mastering Light Underwater. The workshop is dominated by my favourite photogenic dive sites\, with every trip out being fully focused on photography. The workshop aims to reconstruct the way you shoot wide angle\, both from technical and artistic point of view\, while you enjoy great dives\, shooting reef walls\, coral caverns\, colourful sponges and impressive corals\, the Kittiwake wreck\, stingrays\, reef sharks\, turtles and much more. Although\, if the silversides are in residence\, we will devote plenty of our attention to them. Two of the days include three-tank trips\, giving the chance to roam further\, such as visiting the Kittiwake wrecks\, and even to Little Cayman\, which we’ve managed during my workshops in 2022\, 2023\, 2025 and already in 2026 (I didn’t run a workshop in 2024). But do note that going to Little Cayman is weather dependent.” \n \n\nAlex continues “I do not teach underwater photography by just telling you what to do. Of course\, I will always explain ‘How to get the shot’\, but I want you to understand Why you need to apply that technique in that way to get the killer image. I want you to leave my workshop with a collection of great images and also as a more knowledgeable and better underwater photographer. I want you to understand what goes into stunning shots\, so that you can take them on dives\, whether I am there to help you on your next trip or not. That is the aim of this workshop\, we go into detail and deconstruct and rebuild your approach to wide angle photography. These are core skills in underwater photography and many photographers return to this workshop time and again for the great photographic diving and to keep polishing up their core technique.” \n \nAlex adds “Digital Madness definitely puts the work into workshop! I plan a busy schedule to really make the most of the whole week to make it as productive as possible. But while I take the photography seriously\, I don’t take myself too seriously. So we’re busy\, but it is always fun. Nothing is compulsory too\, so if you want to skip a dive or talk to have some vacation-time\, that is fine. There is also no competition element to the week\, which everyone always says helps promote a friendly and sharing atmosphere\, and many images from this workshop have gone on to pick up awards in international underwater photography contests. I hope that you can join me (and hopefully lots of silversides) in Cayman.” \n \nTHE PACKAGE \nDates: Saturday 1-8th August 2026.  \nWorkshop includes 7 nights accommodation at the luxurious Compass Point Dive Resort. Enjoy the luxury of rolling out of bed and onto the dive boat! \nAll rooms are Condo style\, with kitchen\, living room and washing machine/dryer. The two bedroom units have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a large shared communal area. You can see the rooms in detail on the Compass Point website. \n6 days of action packed diving with Alex Mustard and Ocean Frontiers\, almost every dive trip we make is exclusive to this workshop in some way \nGroup Size: Limit 14 Photographers plus Alex Mustard \nPresentations\, image review sessions\, 1:1 teaching in the pool; and pre-dive tips & local knowledge from Alex. Nitrox for whole trip \nBreakfasts all week at Eagle Rays (takeaway easy). Lunches on the 3-tank days. Dinner buffet on final evening for the end of workshop presentation. \nFree High Speed Wi-Fi Internet Access for your entire stay \nScheduled diving finishes Friday lunchtime\, but we offer an optional\, shallow (18ft/6m max) Macro Mania dive on Friday afternoon (not in package). \nRental Car for entire stay \nNote the workshop is booked direct with Ocean Frontiers in Cayman and is priced in US Dollars. \nPackage Prices (depending on room options): \nUS $3\,560 per person double occupancy in a one-bedroom condominium\, inc tax. \nUS $4\,785 per person single occupancy in a one-bedroom condominium\, inc tax. \nUS $4\,015 per person double occupancy in a two-bedroom oceanfront condominium\, inc tax. \nUS $3\,410 per person triple occupancy in a two-bedroom oceanfront condominium\, inc tax. (this package works for a couple plus single traveller). \n \nThe workshop will commence at about 4:30pm on 1st August a welcome to Ocean Frontiers cruise (not compulsory)\, followed at 7:00pm with the welcome lecture from Alex. Therefore\, if you are planning on flying in on this day we would suggest and recommend arriving on the earlier flights so as not to miss out on the welcome talk\, at least. Give yourself minimum of 2 hours from landing to arriving at Ocean Frontiers. If you are coming from Europe or The West Coast perhaps consider arriving a day earlier and adding a night to your package. \n\nPlease note that\, while we will endeavor to find a roommate for those who are single travelers and would prefer to share a two-bedroom accommodation\, in the event of a roommate not being available the single occupancy pricing will apply. \nBOOKING \nIn order to confirm your spot for this workshop for this summer\, Ocean Frontiers require a deposit of 50% of your package price. The final 50% due 90 days prior to arrival. \nCancellation policy: Full refund with more than 90 days notice prior to first day of arrival.  No refund with less than 90 days notification. \nFor Bookings and further information please contact Carol at reservations@oceanfrontiers.com \nYou can also call Toll Free from the USA on 1 800 348 6096. \nThose wishing to come with diving or non-diving partners please check with Carol or Amanda\, in Ocean Frontiers Reservations\, for a variety of package options.

SUMMARY:More Mustard In Lembeh 2026
DESCRIPTION:18th-30th September 2026. FULLY BOOKED \nMore Mustard In Lembeh is organised by Scuba Travel. Contact Caroline@scubatravel.com for waitlist places and information. \nScuba Travel are very happy to announce that Alex Mustard and Nick More are joining forces again to run an exciting macro photography workshop at the enchanting Lembeh Resort\, in North Sulawesi\, Indonesia. The Lembeh Strait is one of the world’s most celebrated dive destinations\, this 10 mile long sliver of sea is less than a mile wide\, constrained between the forested volcanic landscape of Lembeh Island and North Sulawesi\, is home to 70+ dive sites. However\, despite its fame and popularity\, if you have not been before\, it is important to stress that Lembeh is not a classic white-sand beach and blue-water coral reef destination. This is the world’s most famous spot for muck diving\, where beautiful reefscapes and clear water are not the priority – people return again and again to Lembeh because of the amazing critters. A-list animals such as painted frogfish\, flamboyant cuttlefish\, coconut octopus\, hairy frogfish\, pygmy seahorses\, thorny seahorse\, mimic octopus\, blue-ring octopuses and many more are seen daily – making this arguably the world’s most productive destination for underwater photography. \n \n“I am really excited to be running another Lembeh workshop with Nick\,” said Alex. “It is great to have him involved bringing something really fresh to the teaching\, sharing the secrets behind his approach to distinctive and award winning macro photos. He has visited Lembeh Resort more than 10 times\, and his shots from Indonesia have been awarded in all the top underwater photography contests\, as well as in the major WPY and GDT nature photography competitions” \n “More Mustard 2025 was our first joint workshop\,” continued Alex. “I was thrilled with how it went\, I’d say it was the best macro workshop I have run. With Nick’s help I completely revised all the teaching material for the workshop and gave 24 presentations during the 2025 event. Rather than giving talks\, Nick focuses on 1:1 teaching and ran 33 Dive With Nick sessions during that event\, passing on tips\, technique and personal coaching directly to attendees. In short\, we ran two workshops at the same time during these events giving you an incredible opportunity to learn and produce really memorable imagery.” \n“Lembeh Resort is a home-from-home for me\,” said Nick\, “the combination of luxury accommodation\, attentive staff\, amazing and photographically trained dive guides and its proximity to the world renowned dive sites is unmatched. My images can appear simple\, but creating pictures with stunning subjects with clean\, uncluttered and complimentary backgrounds can be challenging. During the past 12 years diving Lembeh\, I’ve developed my own photographic style\, concentrating on animal portraiture\, but with a twist. I’m very excited to be teaming up with Alex in sharing all my knowledge and experience to help ALL workshop participants to achieve photographic success.” \n \n“I don’t think there is another destination or workshop that is as photographically productive as Lembeh\,” continued Alex. “Add to that the beautiful and welcoming Lembeh Resort as a base\, surely one of the world’s very best dive resorts\, the worldclass dive team and famous guides at Critters@Lembeh\, and I am certain this will be a really special experience. September is a fantastic month to visit\, typically with sunny weather and cooler water bringing more key critters in the shallows. Fingers crossed!” \n“More Mustard 2025 was heavily over subscribed\, so we’re arranged a repeat for 2026\, both for those that didn’t get a spot in ’25 and for those that want to do it again. At 12 nights\, this package is the longest I have ever offered in Lembeh\,” says Alex\, “so a real chance to indulge yourself and your photography.” \n \nAlex says\, “I know that many of you will have scrolled straight past all the text straight to the booking info\, as Lembeh Resort\, Lembeh’s photography and my workshops there are all a well-known quantity! But to give you more details: the package is 12 Nights with options of either a 32 dive or the special unlimited dive package (some guests may get close to 50 dives – which is only available from the resort on special trips like this). If you book the 32 dive package you can add dives very simply in resort\, when you want to do them. \nLembeh Resort is a high quality retreat that really treats everyone as an individual: all the staff are so happy to have you staying with them and there is plenty of flexibility to personalise many aspects of your experience. On the diving side this means that each evening you have option: with night\, dusk\, mandarin\, blackwater and bonfire dives all possible. You can also duck out of any boat dive to dive the house reef and your guide will be there to accompany you. The Resort is also home to the Backscatter Photo Centre\, which hopefully you won’t need\, but a massive reassurance if experience have any camera gremlins\, need spares\, require some parts 3D printed (like a zoom gear or beam restrictors) or even want to hire an accessory like a Miniflash Snoot combo. \n \nWorkshop dives will always be with the expert guides from Critters@Lembeh\, with one guide to each pair of photographers. During the workshop photographers cannot book private guides (except when needed for safety reasons)\, and the most experienced guides will work exclusively with each pair of photographers. Guides will be rotated every 2 days\, meaning you should dive with 6 different guides through your stay. The workshop spots are open to non-photographers\, and we can also accommodate non-divers (ask Caroline\, although note that Lembeh is very much a diving destination). The group will be split across multiple boats\, there will usually be between 4 and 6 photographers per boat. Alex works with Opo and the team at the Dive Centre to select the best dive sites for all the boats throughout the trip. \n“The diving philosophy for this workshop is all about photographic productivity\,” said Alex. “I believe our team approach is far better than even having your own private guide and boat. My strategy is to put lots of guides into the water and instruct them to work with a buddy team\, but to communicate with the other guides. More guides means more sightings\, the approach turns a good dive site into a great one\, a great one into a mind-blowing one! When people have an excellent dive\, I make sure I send another of our boats there on the next dive\, and get the guides to exchange notes\, so the next group finds even more subjects. It is one of the biggest advantages of taking over the whole resort\, because it means everything is focused on our group getting the best shots. (Watch Alex talking about the 2025 workshop on the Underwater Photography Show\, below). \n  \n\nIf you have not travelled to Lembeh before\, it is one of the easiest destinations to reach in Indonesia. Most guests arrive on the direct 3 hour flight from Singapore\, landing at the small Manado airport\, where you are met by Lembeh Resort staff and then it is just 45 minutes by car to the Lembeh Strait. The workshop package also includes transfers from Manado airport\, Nitrox\, laundry throughout\, 1 hour spa treatment etc. \nAlex’s workshop teaching will focus on the techniques of macro and critter photography. The lectures are not random talks\, but are planned as a complete course on this style of photography\, starting with fundamentals such as gear selection and optimisation\, covering fundamental macro techniques\, then discussing high quality and creative lighting techniques\, wide angle macro\, while Nick will revisit similar themes\, or whatever you want in your 1:1 sessions. \n \nAlex typically gives technique lectures are each morning as people are finishing up breakfast to provide you with the advice and ideas you need just before you go diving. While\, in the evenings\, after dinner\, Alex runs image review sessions\, to analyse the strengths and areas for improvement in the day’s images. They also provide a great chance to see what others have produced and get inspiration and suggestions for the next day. Nick will be joining buddy teams throughout the workshop\, shooting the same subjects as you will and then comparing shots later on the laptop\, so he can pass on his tips and coaching. \n“I will share my secrets for using slow shutter speeds to capture movement\,” said Nick. “Utilising shallow depth of field\, through open apertures\, combined with ND filters or using high magnification to create separation and smooth backgrounds\, making subjects really ‘pop’. Of course\, I can also teach classical black background macro if you ask! Mindset and strategy are integral to unlocking the photographic potential of Lembeh. The ‘A’ list critters are in abundance\, but sometimes the truly special photographs originate in opportunities with more regularly species. Recognising potential even in a less glamorous subject is key. Remember there is always something to shoot in Lembeh. It shouldn’t be about trying to fit subjects to the technique\, but rather selecting the right techniques for the subject and opportunity.” \n“Lembeh is always a treat. The Resort is a paradise\, the diving is off the scale in productivity and we feel that we add a truly special workshop experience. This is a workshop that shows you there is not just one way to shoot stunning macro images\, and the most compelling shots come when we take control over both our subjects and backgrounds\,” adds Alex. \n \nVITALS \nLembeh Resort offers a variety of rooms at different price points (see their website for more). The cottages are large and provide lots of room for sharing. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the options and include a room request when you contact Caroline. This workshop is also available with a 32-dive package or unlimited dive package (about 45-50 dives). SUMMARY:Galapagos Liveaboard Workshop. Week 1
DESCRIPTION:1-8th November 2026. FULLY BOOKED.  \nThis is the first of two workshops Alex is running in November 2026\, both based on the same teaching and itinerary. \nThe trips are organised by Scuba Travel\, contact Caroline for bookings caroline@scubatravel.com \nGalapagos is the ultimate diving bucket-list destination. Home to arguably the greatest density and diversity of big animals that you can see underwater anywhere. To quote Simon Rogerson\, editor of Scuba Magazine in a recent article about Galapagos Sky\, “Hammerheads\, mantas\, dolphins\, whale sharks: the pelagic A-listers are all regulars at the Galapagos buffet\, and the rest of the guest list can be just as impressive. The parade of fish exceeds that of any other diving destination I have visited.” In summary Galapagos amazes even the mostly widely travelled divers – it is an unmissable destination. \n \nAlex adds “Every Galapagos trip is an adventure. It is an incredible place and each week there is a little different\, but always blows your socks off! And although both weeks will follow the same itinerary\, I’d expect them to serve up different thrills. Galapagos is famous for sharks\, especially hammerheads\, Galapagos sharks and whale sharks in abundance. But turtles\, eaglerays\, sea lions\, fur seals and even mantas can steal the show on any particular week. The different locations on the route really serve up different photographic treats\, for example the cooler water dives bring Mola mola\, iguanas and the endemic red-lipped batfish. It is really like 3 or 4 destinations in one\, but all the dives are united in serving up big fish in large numbers. And the itinerary also offers a couple of land excursions to just fill out your portfolio further.” \n\n\n\nIn addition to being known as the sharkiest place in the oceans\, Galapagos is also loved by photographers as realm of diving dinosaurs\, in the shape of the marine iguanas\, which can be photographed feeding on algae underwater in the shallows at specific sites. This is a must do experience mid-morning when the iguanas have warmed up and waves of them launch into the water in large numbers. It is even possible to see penguins and flightless cormorants on these dives. \n \nIt is important to state that Galapagos is not a destination for beginner divers. The conditions can be tough. At times the water can be warm and benign\, at others it is very cold (the penguins are a clue)\, the visibility mixed and currents are often strong and swirling. Galapagos Sky requires all divers to be Nitrox certified to dive at the remote Wolf and Darwin Islands. Do consider carefully if this trip is right for you before booking a place. \n \nThe workshop will be on the highly rated Galapagos Sky liveaboard\, Alex says “please note that unlike my normal workshops\, where we have total control of the itinerary\, in Galapagos\, even when you charter the whole boat\, the itinerary is fixed and agreed well ahead of time with the National Park. The expected itinerary is this.” Although this workshop is based on a 7 day itinerary\, Galapagos Sky currently spends 3 whole days at the legendary Darwin and Wolf area\, the place where anything can show up and usually does! \n\n\n\n“Galapagos is an amazing\, but challenging destination for underwater photography. Fantastic subject matter is everywhere\, but conditions are unpredictable and changeable\,” says Alex. “As I result I have found that this is a perfect destination to run a workshop more focused on post processing\, especially focusing on the latest tools available in image software. Of course we will cover underwater photography techniques\, but the workshop will spend more time on processing. We’ll start with the basics and build up to more advanced techniques that really suit underwater images. This is not a generic Lightroom course\, but one totally focused on improving your underwater images and dealing with the subject matter and conditions in Galapagos.” \n\n\n\nVITALS \nDates: 1-8th November 2026. \nGroup: 14 + Alex. \nCosts (The Galapagos Sky has slighting different prices for different cabins): \n£7850 GBP\, pp\, – Deluxe Cabins (6 spaces) person \n£8150 GBP\, pp\, – Master Cabins (8 spaces) person \n\nPackage: Scuba Travel have included in the package many items that you are usually require to pay separately. Our package includes the flight from mainland Ecuador out to the Galapagos Islands\, Quito hotel (based on room shares on liveaboard).  7 nights on board\, full board 2 people sharing chosen cabin grade. Nitrox included. Prepaid Hyperbaric chamber fee\, TCT & park fees (usually paid locally\, current total $255 USD). \nIt is expected that some guests will want to double up and repeat the diving and the workshop\, by doing both weeks. This is fine. But initially\, we will only let people book one week\, so that as many different people can get a space. Should there be spaces after the initial enquires or if there are cancellations these will be offered to those wishing to do both workshops. \n \n\nBOOKING \nA 30% deposit is required to confirm your place. An interim payment of 30% will be required in February 2026. The final balance will be due 100 days before travel. International flights can be booked approx 10 months prior to travel. \nAs with all my trips\, non-photographer partners are very welcome to join this exciting diving expedition\, but there is no reduction in the price of the workshop for being a non-photographer because of the limited spaces. \nThese trips are organised by Scuba Travel\, contact Caroline for bookings caroline@scubatravel.com

SUMMARY:Misool With Erin\, 2027
DESCRIPTION:28th January – 10th February 2027. FULLY BOOKED. \nAlex Mustard and Erin Quigley underwater imaging workshop at Misool Resort\, Raja Ampat\, Indonesia. \nContact Caroline@scubatravel.com for further information and waitlist places. \nScuba Travel is proud to announce the ultimate underwater photography event (probably): the combination of the incredible Misool Resort\, Raja Ampat\, staying for their longest package (12N in resort) at the peak time of year\, with a workshop taught by Alex and Erin. \n \nAlex says “we’ve done this once before and it was definitely a high-water mark on my workshops. But I am very excited about this event and want to tell you everything! It is hard to think of a more perfect dive destination than Misool Resort\, an idyllic resort in the world’s most incredible reef diving location. Whenever I have agreed to run workshops there\, I have always insisted that they are a step above and I am very excited that I am teaming up with Erin Quigley of Go Ask Erin fame! I am certain Erin needs little introduction\, but suffice to say she is globally recognised as THE leading expert and teacher for post processing underwater images (as well as taking fantastic photos herself and being a great teacher of in-water techniques too). Erin is generous and a natural teacher\, who loves sharing her knowledge\, making complexity of processing incredibly straightforward and simply helping others. This will be my fifth trip with Erin\, and our second time jointly hosting an event at Misool. Last time was truly spectacular with stunning reefs and mantas upon mantas\, we’re so excited to be going back.” \n \nMISOOL RESORT \nAlthough very remote\, Misool Resort lies at the heart of the world’s most spectacular coral reef habitat. The resort elegantly balances luxury (there are 4 staff to each guest) with active environmental protection to create an unforgettable and adventurous holiday experience in a truly unique destination. Take some time to look through the Misool website to appreciate this is no ordinary destination and resort: the island\, the food\, the rooms\, the diving…. It is no surprise that the resort is fully booked years in advance. Watch the video below to understand why this place is so\, so special: \n\n“Misool is a paradise\,” says Alex. “Lush coral reefs grow right beneath the rooms\, green turtles aggregate right off the beach\, reef sharks swim beneath the wooden walkways and huge schools and colourful blooms of soft coral gather just beneath the dock. On one visit we found 18 pygmy seahorses on the house reef. The island also has its own manta cleaning station\, flasher wrasse spawning spots and within minutes there are some of the most famous dives in Raja Ampat. And rather than diving them with a liveaboard load of dive buddies\, Misool runs small boats and even smaller groups\, ensuring you dive some of the world’s best reefs in a very exclusive way.  It is a place to immerse yourself in nature and in your photography. This is also an incredible place to stay\, and since the resort usually attracts a lot of non-divers\, it is common that people bring non-diving partners on this one\, as there are plenty of staff and experiences for them to enjoy while we are out snapping.” \n \n  \nPROTECTED PARADISE \nAlex continues “I first visited the Misool reefs in 2006\, before the resort had been built and it was obvious that these were the best hard coral\, best soft coral and fishiest reefs I had ever seen. What is perhaps even more remarkable is\, that returning there down the years\, the diving actually is better today. Many new dive sites have been discovered and we now know of a lot more manta cleaning stations (I can name 10 different manta cleaning sites close to the resort and I know the guides know more than me!). Above all there are a lot more fish\, a lot more turtles and a lot more rays and sharks. Species we’re used to witnessing vanishing from the oceans are blossoming here. It is very uplifting place to see.” \nWhat’s the secret formula? There’s no magic trick\, just sound marine conservation. Misool really is an ecologically minded resort – a 300\,000 acre marine protected area is an integral part of the resort and is funded and staffed because we visit. Scientific studies have measured a 250% average increase in the amount of fish inside the reserve over a 6-year period and by 2018 there were 25 times more sharks here than when I first visited. And the biomass is still growing.” By visiting Misool Resort you will be directly contributing to the Misool Foundation and supporting this work. \n \nTHE DIVING \nRaja Ampat has some of the most spectacular reef diving in the world. Diverse and dense gardens of hard corals\, walls stuffed with gaudy soft corals and fans\, tonnes of bright reef fish and a water column filled with schools. On top of this there are loads of turtles\, sharks\, manta rays and more. There is even a jellyfish lake. This trip is timed in January/February which can hopefully bring us the very best conditions\, with baitfish\, mantas\, sunshine and good visibility adding to this amazing destination. The trip is also over Alex’s birthday (the real one\, not the fake one he’s having on each trip in 2025). \nAlex adds “although the resort is surrounded by famous dive sites\, the ability to do easy house reef dives has been incredibly popular on our previous trips. It is such a privilege to be able to dive repeatedly and at your own convenience in this area. Getting to know a site and repeating it gives such a different perspective and imagery. We usually do three boat dives out on the celebrity sites and then one on the house reef. There is also excellent split level photography possible when snorkelling. On previous trips\, folks have also loved shooting as very small groups of photographers\, as we spread across all the boats and visit different sites. It is usual on liveaboards in Raja Ampat for the whole group to dive the same site\, while in Misool Resort we’re able to visit those same famous places with just a handful of people in the water. The small dive group size also means we can visit incredibly rich\, compact pinnacles that liveaboards groups just can’t fit on. And of course\, the resort has the local knowledge and dozens of dive sites that nobody else visits.” \n \nTHE WORKSHOP \nAlex and Erin will naturally divide the teaching of the workshop into their well-known areas of expertise. Alex presenting the main teaching on underwater technique and Erin sharing her mastery of post processing techniques. Alex will generally run the evening sessions that will take place in the dining room at the end of dinner\, with talks on shooting techniques and tips for working with specific subjects (Erin will sometimes guest too)\, which will blend increasingly into review sessions as the workshop continues. While Erin will run her late-afternoon “Office Hour” (aka “Happy Hour” as refreshments are often widely enjoyed) in the Hive\, giving you the chance to get those golden processing tips on your images (in time for image review!). Alex will also be on duty in the camera room – as your first point of contact for any gear related problems. Misool is a wonderful place to indulge in creating sensational images and the workshop is focused on enhancing this. The conditions will be highly suitable for wide angle and this will be a major focus. But there is also excellent fish photography and macro. \nSince we take over the whole of the resort\, Caroline from Scuba Travel will also be on location to help in looking after everyone\, taking care of the logistics and providing an extra point of contact. \n \nBOOKING INFO \nThis trip is being organised by Scuba Travel\, UK\, who organise most of Alex’s workshop trips. For reservations and further information\, please email Caroline@scubatravel.com (noting that they mainly work UK office hours for replies). However\, because we expect a lot of interest from photographers all around the world\, the trip is priced in US Dollars and without flights. Have a look at our tips for booking page\, to understand how places are allocated. \nA deposit of 35% of your package price is required to secure your spot\, followed by an interim payment on 1st July 2026 of a further 30%\, and the final balanced paid on 20th October 2026. \nVITALS \nDates: 28th January – 10th February 2027 (Sorong-Sorong) – includes 12 nights in resort + one in Sorong. \nNote you need to be in Sorong early morning of 28th January to catch the speedboat transfer to the resort (shortly after the Garuda flight from Jakarta arrives). Please check with Caroline at Scuba Travel before organising your flights (given the remote location it is very difficult to reach Misool resort if you miss the official transfer)\, Scuba Travel always happy to help in booking your flights etc. \nPrices: depends on accommodation option\, subject to availability \nSouth Beach villa                    USD $11975 pp (based on 2 sharing) \nWater cottage                         USD $13000 pp (based on 2 sharing) \nNorth lagoon villa                   USD $13450 pp (based on 2 sharing) \nIncluded: full board accommodation at Misool\, Workshop with Alex & Erin\, full diving package (upto 4 dives a day)\, 12lt Nitrox tanks & weights. 1 night post in Aston hotel in Sorong\, speedboat transfer to resort\, Contribution to the Misool Foundation and Raja Ampat park fees\, Sorong Airport transfers. \nThe resort is well suited to non-divers. SUMMARY:Thailand's Andaman Sea
DESCRIPTION:9th March-17th March 2027. OPEN. \nPlease contact Caroline@scubatravel.com for more information and reservations. \nThailand’s Andaman Sea: underwater photography workshop exploring the lush reefs and big animals of Richelieu Rock\, Koh Tachai\, Surin & Similan Islands by liveaboard. \nThailand’s Andaman Sea offers an exotic mix between the high biodiversity of Southeast Asia coral reefs and the richness of the tropical Indian Ocean. These picturesque reefs are packed with colourful soft corals\, sea fans and fish\, there are endemics like the Andaman anemone fish and unusual nudibranchs\, and big animals like mantas and whale sharks. In short it is an excellent destination for producing standout underwater photographs – the aim of this workshop. \n \n“Although I’ve not been to Thailand for long time\, the reefs of the Andaman Sea remain some of the most beautiful I’ve photographed\,” commented Alex. “And I saw first ever whale shark at Richelieu Rock\, so I am very excited to be headed back. This trip is timed for mid-March\, firmly in the NE monsoon\, which brings sunny weather\, calm seas and the best visibility to the region. For those that join some of my higher end trips\, do note that Thailand is lower priced destination compared with many we visit in Asia\, so you can expect more other divers in the water and less sumptuous accommodations than we usually experience in the leading resorts and liveaboards in Indonesia\, for example. Although we will be enjoying fantastic Thai food!” \nThe workshop will focus on the dive sites around Richelieu Rock\, Koh Tachai\, the Surin and Similan Islands. The trip is based on the experienced and well-run MV Bavaria liveaboard (28m\, purpose build\, steel-hulled)\, which Scuba Travel has chartered for an extended 7 night\, 26 dive\, itinerary (typical trips are 3 or 6 night). We’re running the workshop with a reduced number of divers onboard (16 plus Alex\, the boat usually takes 24 divers) for smaller dive groups underwater and more space on board. \n \nThailand’s Andaman Sea offers spectacular and diverse photography. Richelieu Rock is often hailed as the crown jewel of the Andaman Sea\, due to its extraordinary biodiversity\, vibrant purple soft corals\, and the chance to encounter both large pelagic species like whale sharks and manta rays\, as well as rare macro marine life. The site is a horseshoe-shaped pinnacle that emerges only at low tide and extends down to 40 metres. The site can experience strong currents\, but that brings life\, lots of life. Richelieu Rock is fantastic for both wide angle and macro\, offering encounters with large schools of barracuda\, trevallies\, tuna\, large cuttlefish and a wealth of smaller creatures such as ghost pipefish\, harlequin shrimp\, tiger-tail seahorses\, nudibranchs\, and frogfish. With so much to shoot\, we plan to be based for around half the trip at this spot. \n \nThe Similan Islands are another gem that make Thailand a world-class photo destination. With crystal-clear waters\, granite boulders\, and flourishing coral gardens\, the Similans offer stunning and easy conditions for photography. These reefs are characterised by lush soft corals\, attractive sea fans\, baitfish\, reef octopus and bigger creatures like turtles and leopard (zebra) sharks. On one previous trip Alex made over 30 dives on just one dive site here\, never tiring of the subject matter! Ko Tachai\, by contrast\, typically experiences stronger currents\, and is the top spot for big animals and schools. While the less visited sites of the Surin Islands are MV Bavaria’s speciality with a wealth of stunning spots combined with far fewer other divers. \n \nThe trip will be fully focused on photography with diving biased to the daytime and Alex running his teaching sessions each evening. The workshop will focus on the techniques relevant to the subjects we are seeing\, such a the stunning scenery\, big animal encounters\, schooling fish and macro portraits. Alex will also run image review sessions during the workshop. \n \nVITALS \nDates: 9th March-17th March 2027 (Phuket-Phuket) \nFrom £2650 GBP\, depending on cabin options (more below). SUMMARY:Dumaguete With Marty
DESCRIPTION:24th April – 4th May 2027. FULLY BOOKED. \nPlease note that this workshop is booked direct with Atlantis Dive Resort\, Philippines. Please contact reservations.tl@atlantishotel.com for waitlist spots. \nThe Philippines sits in the heart of the Coral Triangle\, home to the world’s most biodiverse tropical marine life and is arguably the world’s epicentre for underwater photography. We hope that you will join this unique collaborative workshop with Alex Mustard and Marty Snyderman for this very special Macro Masterclass\, at the fantastic Atlantis Dive Resort in Dumaguete. Prices from $4552 USD\, 10 days\, 5 scheduled dives each day included. \n \n“I am very excited to be returning to Atlantis for this workshop.” says Alex. “The muck and patch reef diving around Dauin and Dumaguete has always proved amongst my most productive spots anywhere in the world. These dives have yielded many of my well-known shots\, including a WPY Category winner\, and all taken while enjoying staying at the welcoming and elegant Atlantis Dumaguete Resort. This destination has always been very popular on my previous workshops because of the resort’s excellent food\, relaxed vacation vibe\, beachfront location and for being very close to the best dive sites. This last point allows Atlantis to run 4 day dives and a night dive each day\, which combined with the area being so critter rich makes every day there mega-productive for photography.” \n“The location is one of the great macro meccas\,” Alex continues. “It is definitely packed with critters\, but in my experience has a few less rarities than other places\, but very much makes up for that with abundance of all the prime subjects. Dumaguete is particularly amazing in the spring\, when it is celebrated for frogfish\, nudibranchs and cephalopods. I have done many dives here with more that 10 frogfish on the dive (my record is 14\, although a friend claims he counted 40 on one amazing dive). Most of the dive sites are in locally enforced no-take reserves and are filled with normal reef life too. It is my favourite spot anywhere to photograph clownfish\, and it is possible to see 7 different species on a single dive here. Oh\, and it is renowned for large photogenic nudibranch\, seahorses\, skeleton shrimps and more.” \n \n“I am also really delighted that Marty Snyderman invited me to run this event with him\,” says Alex. “I’ve been reading Marty’s articles\, books and wowing at his photos for pretty much my entire life and I am very excited by what he’ll bring to this workshop group. Marty is a longstanding Photography Ambassador for Atlantis Resorts and Liveaboards\, which means he has the insight to ensure we’re always heading out to most photographic dive sites and I know that the whole Atlantis team is excited to be hosting us and are committed to making this a truly special workshop.” \n“I am thrilled to be at Alex’s side for this workshop\,” adds Marty. “One of the benefits of my work with Atlantis Dive Resorts and Liveaboards is being able to share our marine life and the nuances of the behaviors we have an opportunity to see and document with divers from all over the world. No doubt about it\, being in the heart of the Coral Triangle\, the photographic opportunities are endless. Our camera facilities make dealing with camera systems safe and easy. Our dive guides understand the concerns and desires of underwater shooters\, and they are eager to show you the best diving they can. I could go on and on about Atlantis\, but what I really want to say is I very much look forward to meeting and diving with those of you who are able to join us. We are going to enjoy some fantastic diving!”\n\n\n \n\nThe workshop includes 10 nights in a deluxe room at Atlantis (and single room supplement is very reasonably priced)\, on full board (including all meals: a chef-prepared breakfast and three course lunch and dinner)\, with all diving and Nitrox pre-paid. Everyone also has a one day trip to Apo Island (wide angle) a beacon in the Philippines marine conservation story. The group size is 21 plus Alex & Marty\, dives will be 4 photographers with a guide and we will be split across multiple boats. \n \nVITALS:\nThe workshop runs from 24th April to 4th May 2027 (note that the package does include the internal flights from and back to Manila). \nThe price is $4552.00 USD per person\, from Manila to Manila (based on a shared room). It includes “full board” accommodation (all meals included)\, nitrox diving (certainly 40+ dives)\, Alex Mustard/Marty Snyderman macro workshop\, internal flights and transfers (if on the group arrival dates – there may be a different price for flights/transfers if travelling on other days). \nPlease don’t book your international flights yet (because the internal flight schedule is not yet confirmed)\, but based on current flight times you would need to be in Manila by 7am on the morning of 24th April to catch the intended flight to Dumaguete. And will return to Manila on morning of 4th\, for international flights after 3pm. \nGroup size 21+ Alex & Marty. Max 4 divers to 1 guide. \nRoom upgrades are available. The same package with deluxe Single Room costs $5236.00 USD. Note prices are in US Dollars and payable direct to Atlantis Resorts. \nNot included: Marine Park Fees \n \nWorkshop full. For waitlist and further information and please contact reservations.tl@atlantishotel.com. Spaces allocated on a first come\, first served basis. \nA deposit of 30% of your package price is required to secure your place. The final balance is due 90 days before the workshop 22nd January 2027.
