A common starfish (Asterias rubens) rears up on its legs to spawn, in front of feather stars (Antedon bifida), in mid-afternoon in April. This is a female releasing eggs. A pheromone released with the eggs will cause nearby starfish to spawn. Males release milky sperm. Loch Carron, Ross and Comarty, Scotland, British Isles. North East Atlantic Ocean
