A snorkeller (Becca Nutsch) watches a strange upsidedown jellyfish (Cassiopea frondosa) swimming in murky water. These jellyfish spend most of their time lying upside down on the seabed, sunning themselves for the benefit of their symbiotic algae. You are most likely to encounter them swimming in the later afternoon, when long shadows cause them to move in search of sunlight.
