A female common seahorse (yellow seahorse: Hippocampus kuda) goes unnoticed by a passing striped puffer (Arthron manilensis). Seahorse’s unusual body shape and slow movements are very effective camouflage. Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Lembeh Strait, Molucca Sea.
This species is often called the yellow seahorse, although typically the males are brown and the females a variation of yellow. In Lembeh, where I took these shots it is more common that the females are orange.
