The corals of a reef (digitate leather coral: Sinularia sp.) are bleached as a result of elevated water temperatures, which cause the coral to expell its zooxanthellae. This bleaching occured in late 2022, due to warming water caused by a La Nina event. Raja Ampat. This area is usually considered as a refuge from mass bleaching events, fortunately this event was not lethal to that many corals on this occassion. Misool, Raja Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia.
