A large colony of mountainous star coral (Orbicella faveolata, previously Montastraea faveolata) spawning at night in late summer. This photo shows the start of synchronous release of bundles of eggs and sperm from the polyps of the coral. East End, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies. Caribbean Sea.
