The laterally compressed body pink leaf scorpionfish (Taenianotus triacanthus) is its disguise. The fish further enhances its disguise by rocking back and forth in the surge and some of its scales are modified into skin flaps. Leaf scorpionfish are more commonly black, brown, cream or golden. The pink colour variety is usually found in colourful reef areas, where it may help the fish blend in with colourful corals. This species is usually found in groups of two or three, each often having different colours. Tulamben Bay, Bali, Indonesia. Java Sea.
