Table corals (Acropora sp.) soak up sunlight to help them grow on a coral reef. Reef building corals contain zooxanthellae in their tissues which photosynthesize to provide the corals with food. Corals grown into plant like shapes to maximise their ability to collect sunlight for their endosymbiont algae. Komodo Island, Komodo National Park, Indonesia. Flores Sea.
