A marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus) showing red colouration basks on rocks. On some islands the iguanas take on this red and green coloration towards the end of the year, associated with the mating season, and are known as Christmas Iguanas. They are usually black, the best colour to absorb the heat from the sun. Floreana Island, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. Tropical East Pacific Ocean.
