Sea Gooseberry, Scotland, UK.
A sea gooseberry (Pleurobrachia pileus), a ctenophore jellyfish, swims in open water. The feathery tentacles are used for capturing prey and can be extended behind the jellyfish or completely retracted. Photographed in spring (April). Loch Carron, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, British Isles. North East Atlantic Ocean.
