A mountainous star coral (Orbicella faveolata, previously Montastraea faveolata) prepares to spawn at night in late summer. Note the gamete bundles set in the polyps of the coral (visible as beige balls). One bundle is just about to burst out to the polyp. East End, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies. Caribbean Sea.
