Two images of the same colony of mountainous star coral (Orbicella faveolata, previously Montastraea faveolata) spawning at night in late summer on a coral reef. The upper photo shows the bundles of eggs and sperm set within the polyps prior to release and the lower photo shows the synchronous spawning release. East End, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies. Caribbean Sea.
