Large brown tube sponges (Agelas conifera) and erect rope sponges (Aplysina cauliformis) grow into extravagant shapes deep on a reef wall. Sponges were the first multi-cellular animals and still thrive on reefs today. They are second only to corals in their dominance of sessile reef life. East End, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies, Caribbean Sea.
