My new book, Reefs Revealed, was published on 25th October 2007 by Constable, London, UK. In France the book is published under the title of Voyage Au Coeur Des Recifs by Romain Pages Editions. In German the book is called IM RIFF and is published by Terra magica-Bildbande. RR is a large format, hardback photo-book about coral reefs. That said I have worked hard to make it more than just photos. The book is introduced by a 7000 word essay. All the images have extended natural history captions. Most of this info comes direct from the scientific literature and includes some of the latest research mixed up with classic information. Although the text is not all dry science - there is quite a bit of what I think in there too! For the photographer, the captions also include location and camera equipment and settings.
NEWS FLASH I am delighted and very proud to announce that my new book Reefs Revealed won the Prix Mondial Du Livre D'Image Sous-Marine (World Grand Prize for the best book of underwater photographs) at the 34th Festival Mondial De L'Image Sous Marine in Antibes, France on 27th October 2007. In winning this award Reefs Revealed joins some pretty esteemed company - previous winners include books by some of the greats of underwater photography: Chris Newbert, Kurt Amsler, David Doubilet, Tony Wu and Laurent Ballesta. Books are a lot of hard work and this is certainly the most satisfying award I have won for my photography.
